Discipline – Self Control

I watched Dr Charles Stanley last week and it has stuck with me.

This week, the fast is about discipline. I am honestly under conviction as I sit here and type this post. This is no light weight for me. I started writing this post last week and I am so disappointed in myself. There is such a lack of discipline in my life. As I Christian, I should exemplify the word of God in my life correct? I mean we know a tree by the fruit that it bears right?

Galatians 5:22  says ” but the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, & self-control; against such there is no law.”

All these fruit should bear witness on our personal trees of life. No one is perfect but we are striving for perfection right? Our aim is to be more like Christ? (Phil 3:12-15) We should strive to exemplify these fruit in our lives and one of these fruit is discipline.

Discipline is not something that comes easy, Heb 12:11 For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

I am sure that we all need discipline in some area of our lives be it our relationship with God, our bodies, our finances, our time…the list can go on and on…

This week, meditate on these scriptures and spend some time in prayer and in the word of God. As him for his instructions, for a strategic plan on how to discipline your self in the area that you need discipline in. There is nothing impossible with God. As a matter of fact don’t say impossible, Say I AM Possible!!!!

Titus 2:11-14 ” For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age, waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people for his own possession who are zealous for good works.”

Presenting to Some and Introducing to Others

Friendships should be cherished. It’s very rare that you find a friend that’s life long. Most of us consider our best friends our siblings. They know us, they have slept with us, ate with us, seen us laugh and made us cry. They know our flaws and out strengths. Sometimes they are even like us. These friendships are hard to come by, and many of us don’t want to share our bestie. Why? Because we lose time with them and they become preoccupied with someone or something else. When we need to talk to them and/or ask them for advice, we can’t. When we need a good laugh or we need to shed a few tears we run to them. We go with them shopping or to baseball games and have an occasional dinner and sleepover. When they are not with us we miss them dearly and when life busies them, we get lonely…Well guess what?!?!?!?!?! I want to share my best friend with you!!!! I call this friend….are you ready….wait for it…keep waiting…..I hear the jeopardy music….Alright!!!!!! THE WORD OF GOD!!!!! I absolutely love the Word of God. Once you learn it, it is always with you. It comforts you, humors you, and gives you fashion advice. It’s honest with you and shows you yourself in the mirror. It tells you how to resolve and manage any problem you may have. It is the truth and it cannot lie!!! When you need to vent, the Word of God is right there with you, listening to you and speaking back to you. The Word of God does not judge, it loves unconditionally and always has a good story to tell you. And the best part is there is enough Word to share with everyone!!! It will never forsake you not leave you lonely! Isn’t that awesome!!!! It’s always available to you! Hope you enjoy spending some time with my best friend, I know I will!!!!
