He blesses the righteous

Today’s verse:

“For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; with favor You will surround him as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12

Who do we truly seek to please?

Today’s verse:

“For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.” Galatians 1:10

Called to bless

Today’s verse(s):

“Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous; not returning evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary blessing, knowing that you were called to this, that you may inherit a blessing.” 1 Peter 3:8-9

More than the hats we wear

In emailing a friend today, I got inspiration for the blog. She was congratulating me on having a balanced life, and I was telling her that my life was far from balanced. We wear many hats through out the day. Take me for instance, I am a mother, a wife, a sister, a daughter, an auntie, a blogger, a technical writer, a taxi driver, a cook…the list goes on and on. Not only am I all of that I am also a chid of God and I am me. I have interests and I have things that I like to do. I like to dance, I like to listen to music etc. As tiring as wearing all these hats can be and as much as we like to complain about the hats that we wear and long to simply wear that hat we call self, its exciting being all of that wrapped into one. That’s the beauty of the complexity of God if you ask me.

When all my hats become overwhelming or they began to teeter on my head, I simply lay them down and pick up the worshiper hat. I go before my father and gain strength from him. After all he will not give me more than I can bear and because he has blessed me to be able to wear all these hats, he requires me to be a good steward over them all. That keeps me humble.

Loving my life

Back to Basics

Do you remember when you met your best friend? How your relationship started with your spouse? Your first date?  Do you remember the amount of time it took you to prepare? When things get rough for me and I feel like I am loosing my seal and my passion for it, I reflect on how it first started. I go back to the basics and restructure/redesign it.

We should do the same thing with GOD. He wants to get back to basics with us. He wants to spend time with us and he wants us to spend time in his word, talking to him, singing to him, waiting on him, and listening to him. When we get back there, he can began to refocus us on the path that he has for us to walk. He can redesign us.

Basics are simply your foundation. Your starting point, your impartation.

Lets get back to basics today!
